This 4 hour workshop provides a comprehensive overview of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) which is the use of medications, in combination with behavioral therapies, to treat substance use disorders. This training will focus on how to diagnose a substance use disorder, with a discussion of the neurobiology of addiction. How substance use disorders impact the brain, how MAT works. Participants will obtain an overview of the different types of medications used in the treatment of opioid, nicotine and prescription drugs. Participants will understand the benefits of MATS and the management of Recovery.
