RECOVERY NEEDS SURVEY (2016)

FOR-NY is committed to identifying the needs of the Recovery community throughout New York State. One of the ways we accomplish that is through research surveys; the results of which can help us to identify current needs, strengths and gaps in addiction recovery support services in communities throughout the state and shape our policy efforts.

The results of our state-wide survey (conducted in-person and online between January 1 – March 31, 2016) were first announced at the 2016 New York Recovery Conference. 1,689 surveys were completed by individuals and families living in recovery, family members who have lost a loved one to addiction, people who have been otherwise impacted by addiction, professionals in the addiction recovery field and other allies. The questions were developed to provide a reliable snapshot of the socio-demographics, history of mental health and substance use, and access to treatment and recovery support services (RSS) for individuals and family members across New York State.
