This Year’s Theme
The Recovery Arts Festival is open to all New York State artists in recovery. This year’s submissions should depict the theme:
“Building a Recovery Ready New York State: Preparing NYS communities to be inclusive of recovery supported services.”
Submission Categories
Please submit one (1) form of art in one (1) of the following categories:
Poetry
Drawing
Graphite, pen & ink, colored pencil
Painting
Oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor
Photography
Mixed Media
Music
Submitted via video
A person may submit in more than one category, but only one submission per person, per category will be accepted. Please complete the fillable entry form for every category entered.
Awards
All artwork will be judged in September. Awards will be presented for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category during our annual Recovery Conference, including the esteemed OASAS Commissioner’s Choice Award, plus an Executive Director and Staff Choice Award.

Submission Guidelines
- Complete both the Entry Form and the signed Consent Agreement, being sure to initial the “I agree” box. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
- Take a photo and, if possible, a video of the original art you are submitting and include it with the entry form. This is the only way your entry will be considered.
- All completed forms, along with photos of your original artwork and/or videos, must be received by August 31, 2026.

A Few Important Notes
Entrants must be over the age of 18, or have a parent/legal guardian co-sign the consent form on their behalf. Any artwork containing a photographic likeness or audio recording that implies or identifies an individual as receiving treatment must include that individual’s separate, legally sufficient consent. FOR-NY reserves the right to amend exhibition categories or decline any submission at its sole discretion.
