A highly skilled clinician, trainer and educator, Mr. Showers has worked in substance use treatment
since 2005, obtaining his CAADC in 2012. In 2013 he was nominated to be a National Consultant
in the VA for Motivational Interviewing and Motivational Enhancement Therapy. Mr. Showers was
nominated to attend an exclusive Train the Trainer event in California in February 2016, has co-led
national trainings for Motivational Interviewing for the VA and has participated in the development
and facilitation of a local one day workshop with six months of follow up consultation for The
Baltimore VA.
In September, 2016, Mr. Showers attended and successfully completed the Motivational Interviewing
Network of Trainers Train-the-Trainer event and is now one of approximately 1,500 MINT members from around the world.
