The FOR-NY Recovery Art Festival and Awards Program

The FOR-NY Recovery Art Festival, first held in 2003, provides budding artists in recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs with an opportunity to express themselves through a variety of mediums including photography, watercolor, pencil, oil/pastel, mixed media, pen & ink, acrylic, traditional poetry (English & Spanish) and hip hop (English & Spanish).

A big thank you to everyone who submitted artwork this year!  This year’s theme is “Recovery is Real. Attainable. Sustainable. Powerful.” We know it is; and the Recovery Community used creativity and imagination to make art that expresses this truth for all to see!

All entries were exhibited at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.  Winning entries in each category were recognized at an awards program held during the NYS Recovery Conference. Check back for more information about how to enter your art for the FOR-NY Recovery Art Festival in 2019. We look forward to seeing what art is created in the new year!

“The medical profession has come a long way in recognizing the healing benefits of art. My hope is that someday the arts will be considered as significant in everyone’s lives as breathing fresh air, eating clean foods, and performing physical exercise.” – Renée Phillips
