The NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) through its fiscal agent, the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene (RFMH), today announced a funding opportunity for a community-based organization and/or a network of community based-organizations to establish the statewide infrastructure to support local communities of youth and young adults in recovery from substance use disorders.

A successful applicant will ensure that this is a youth and young adult-driven process, which includes “branding” the youth and young adult recovery movement in New York State, establishing a social marketing plan, and providing coordination and technical assistance to burgeoning organizations and communities of youth and young adults in recovery. The target population is comprised of youth and young adults up to age 30.

FUNDING AVAILABLE: RFMH/OASAS will issue one award with a maximum of $450,000 of funding for the anticipated period of July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018. Funding for this project is made possible by the State Targeted Response to the Opioid Crisis Grants through Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and is subject to second year of funding based on Federal Appropriations.

Eligible Applicants: Existing community-based organizations or a network of organizations that are a 501(c)(3), or willing to become a 501(c)(3), operating in New York State and who have experience working with Youth and Young Adults, Recovery Community Organizations, and have experience developing infrastructure. If the applicant does not have 501c 3 status, the applicant must identify an eligible organization that will service as the fiscal agent for the applicant.
