SCHENECTADY COUNTY
On Wednesday, December 5, 2018, Friends of Recovery – Schenectady and Friends of Recovery –New York co-sponsored a FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Thirty-three people attended the event.
QUEENS COUNTY
On Friday June 15, 2018, The Samaritan Daytop Village Peer Alliance Recovery Center, Queens Community House and Friends of Recovery –New York co-sponsored a FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Thirty-three people attended the event that kicked off with Laurie Lieberman, Director of the Peer Alliance Recovery Center.
WARREN & WASHINGTON COUNTIES
On Friday June 8, 2018, Friends of Recovery – Warren and Washington Counties and Friends of Recovery–New York co-sponsored a FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Thirty-five people attended the event that kicked off with Ashley Livingston, CRPA-P, Co-Chair of Friends of Recovery – Warren and Washington Counties.
BRONX
On Wednesday, May 30, 2018, the Bronx Council on Alcohol and Substance Use Disorders, the Alumni Association of New York State, the Coalition for Behavioral Health and Friends of Recovery–New York co-sponsored a FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Fifty-eight people attended the event that kicked off with Luis Laboy, Director of the Bronx Council on Alcohol and Substance Use Disorders.
STATEN ISLAND
On Sunday, December 3, 2017, Tackling Youth Substance Abuse and Friends of Recovery New York co-sponsored a FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Thirty people attended the event that kicked off with Marco Di Donna, Executive Director and Founder of Carl’s House, a Recovery Center in Staten Island.
COLUMBIA
On Thursday, November 2, 2017, Columbia Pathways to Recovery and Friends of Recovery New York co-sponsored a FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Thirty people attended the event that kicked off with Carl Quinn, Executive Director of CPR as the Lead Speaker.
POUGHKEEPSIE
On Thursday, September 21, 2017, Friends of Recovery Dutchess, the Council on Addiction and Prevention Education and Friends of Recovery New York co-sponsored a FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Over 100 people attended the event that kicked off with Elaine Trumpetto, Executive Director of CAPE as the Lead Speaker.
MASSAPEQUA
On Thursday, April 6, 2017, The Long Island Recovery Association (LIRA), Drug Free Long Island and Friends of Recovery – New York co-sponsored a FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Over 35 people attended the event including young people in recovery advocating for Recovery High Schools in Long Island.
SYRACUSE
On Thursday, September 29, 2016, The Prevention Network, the Center for Family Life and Recovery; and the Central Region Prevention Resource Center co-sponsored the 11th FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Over 50 people attended the event that kicked off with Jordan Eubanks as the Lead Speaker.
ROCKLAND
On Thursday, April 28, 2016, The Rockland Council for Addiction and Drug Dependency (RCADD) and Friends of Recovery – Rockland co-sponsored the 10th FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum at the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack, NY. Over 100 people attended the event, which featured 16 individuals, family members and allies to the recovery community who addressed the listen panel.
BROOKLYN
On Thursday, March 31, 2016, The Brooklyn Community Recovery Center, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams, The New York Recovery Community Coalition, The Brooklyn Recovery Group, and the Alumni Association of New York co-sponsored the 9th FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Over 70 community members identified and addressed issues surrounding addiction and recovery that have impacted their community.
ROCHESTER
On Wednesday, December 16, 2015 FOR-NY partnered with The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency – Rochester Area (NCADD-RA) and the Family Recovery Network for the FOR-NY Recovery Talks: Community Listening Forum. More than 45 people attended the event which was held at NCADD-RA.
UTICA
The Center for Family Life and Recovery (CFLR) and The Prevention Network co-sponsored the December 15, 2015 FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum. Almost 40 people attended the event, which was moderated by CFLR Services Director, Judy Reilly.
NORTHPORT
On Tuesday, December 8, 2015, the Long Island Recovery Association (LIRA) and the Northport – East Northport Community Drug and Alcohol Task Force co-hosted a FOR-NY Recovery Talks: Community Listening Forum at the Northport Public Library in Suffolk County. More than 40 attendees identified and addressed issues surrounding addiction and recovery that have impacted their community.
NEW YORK CITY
On December 3, 2015, a FOR-NY Recovery Talks: Community Listening Forum was held at The New York University Silver School of Social Work in Manhattan. 40 people attended the forum co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Community Recovery Center (BCRC), the New York Recovery Community Coalition (NYRCC), and the Alumni Association of New York.
NORTH COUNTRY
The Northern Tier Providers Coalition co-sponsored the FOR-NY Recovery Talks Community Listening Forum on November 3, 2015 in beautiful Lake Placid. Fifty participants attended the forum which featured thirteen speakers representing the prevention, treatment and recovery communities.
MASSAPEQUA
More than 40 residents came together at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa (Nassau County ) on November 2, 2015 to participate in the FOR-NY Recovery Talks: Community Listening Forum. The event was co-sponsored by the Long Island Recovery Association (LIRA) and the Drug-Free Partnership of Long Island.
CAPITAL DISTRICT
On September 28, 2015, FOR-NY partnered with the Assembly Minority Task Force on Heroin Addiction and Community Response to co-host the second in our series of Recovery Talks: Community Listening Forums. Almost 100 people participated in the event, which was held at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.
SARATOGA
On April 30, 2015, more than 75 people gathered in the Saratoga Public Library for the first FOR-NY Recovery Talks: Community Listening Forum of 2015. The event was co-sponsored by The Prevention Council of Saratoga County and Recovery Advocacy In Saratoga (RAIS). RAIS Chairperson, Brian Farr, a person in long-term recovery, served as moderator.
