Updates on the NYS Recovery Conference: Pre-Conference Activities and Scholarships
There’s a lot going on before the conference even starts! We’ll be kicking off the wellness raffle, we’ll be learning, networking, viewing exhibits from some of our sponsors and dancing! Check out the details below:
Pre Conference Recovery Institute
On Sunday August 19, 2018 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, OASAS and FOR-NY will be sponsoring a Pre-Conference Recovery Institute for all Recovery Support Providers and Programs including Peer Engagement Specialists, Family Support Navigators, Recovery and Community Outreach Centers, Clubhouses, Recovery Community Organizations, COTIs, Youth Voices Matter, Hospital Diversion and Wrap Around Program, regardless of funding source or affiliation. So if you are connected to one of these programs you should come!
There will be multiple networking opportunities and sessions will include: Peer Empowerment/Peer Wellness, Peer Professionalism 101, Recovery Capital/ Infrastructure needs, Connecting Multiple Pathways, Recovery Language and Stories, Positive Youth Development/ Peer Development, Barriers to Successful Recovery, Engagement Strategies and more!
But you must register by Sunday August 12 for this free event. Four contact hours for CRPA/CARC, CASAC/CPS/CPP and Social Work recertification pending.

Trainers Networking Event
Are you a trainer of Peer Professionals? Come join the conversation. How can we support you and this emerging workforce? There will be discussion, brainstorming on new roles for trainers, peer guidance and fun! New training products and protocols will be discussed. This is also a FREE Event from 5:00- 7:00 pm. Light food and beverages will be served.

Scholarships
Scholarships have been made available through OASAS funding for Peers to attend the NY Recovery Conference. Check out the link below for more information and the application to apply for the scholarships available for:
- Peers that have completed recovery coach training
- Peers that are CRPAs, provisional CRPAs or CARCs
- Peers that are currently volunteering at a Recovery Community Organization (RCO), Recovery Community and Outreach Center (RCOC), or Youth Clubhouse
- Peers that are currently employed within the SUD system and/or RCOC/RCOs

Youth Scholarships
Are you between the ages of 18 and 30 and interested in helping Youth Voices Matter – New York (YVM-NY) develop a strategic plan? There are scholarships available for you too! Information about how to apply will be posted on the Recovery Conference event page soon.
