This month, we’re pleased to introduce Recovery Talk readers to BestSelf Recovery, one of New York State’s newest Recovery Community & Outreach Centers. A program of both Lake Shore Behavioral Health, Inc. and Preventionfocus, BestSelf’s mission is to promote self-sufficiency, wellness, recovery, and an enhanced quality of life for all individuals with mental illnesses and addictive disorders by providing effective, accessible and culturally sensitive services.
BestSelf Recovery Community, which celebrated its Grand Opening earlier this week, offers peer mentoring, peer led support groups, stress reduction activities, information about addiction, treatment and connections; linkage to insurance, housing and other community supports, health & wellness information, life skills training, vocational support and information, and social activities.
The center also provides recovery support services to any person (over age 21) who identifies as seeking or being in recovery; and recognizes that there are multiple pathways to recovery. As such, BestSelf supports all individuals in their efforts at effecting positive life changes around substance use. BestSelfRecovery connects participants with peer supports, recovery coaches, and free help and encouragement in a welcoming, safe, substance free environment, and incorporates wellness activities in support of ongoing recovery; and can help with connections to community services that include employment, housing, case management, medical, relapse prevention and skills building.
BestSelf Recovery is located at 69 Linwood Avenue in Buffalo, New York 14209. Hours of operation are Tuesday & Thursday – 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Wednesday & Friday – 10:00 am – 8:00 pm, and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
