Position Summary
The Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA / CRPA-P) provides support, mentorship, and guidance to individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. The CRPA serves as a role model, advocate, and motivator to help peers prevent relapse, engage in treatment, and achieve long-term recovery. This role works closely with clients and the clinical team to ensure peer support services are consistent with each client’s treatment plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Engage individuals considering entering treatment and encourage participation in healthcare services.
Support clients in attending treatment sessions and post-discharge services/aftercare.
Raise awareness of community resources and other supportive services.
Assist peers in developing and following Peer-Centered Recovery Plans.
Help peers self-monitor their progress and model effective coping skills.
Attend court and other legal system meetings to provide support as needed.
Facilitate non-clinical peer support groups.
Support peers in advocating for themselves to access effective services.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records and reports.
Demonstrate cultural competence and awareness of healthcare, mental health, and substance use disparities affecting urban and suburban minority populations.
· On-site position with regular client interaction.
· May involve attendance at community events, legal system meetings, or treatment sites.
