6 hour Trauma-Informed Peer Support: Promoting Safety, Trust, and Empowerment

This 6-hour instructor led continuing education course equips Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPA) and Certified Addiction Recovery Coaches (CARC) with the knowledge, skills, and trauma-responsive practices necessary to support individuals safely and ethically. Participants will explore the impact of trauma on behavior, communication, and recovery, and learn peer-appropriate strategies rooted in safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural awareness. Emphasis is placed on preventing re-traumatization, promoting emotional regulation, and fostering healing-centered peer relationships. The training integrates trauma-informed principles with ethical boundaries, cultural humility, and lived-experience wisdom to strengthen peer support practice.
