What’s new in the Education and Training department at FOR-NY? We are well underway in the planning of our next BIG event! The 2018 NYS Recovery Conference is set for August 19th – 21st at the Wolf Road Marriott Hotel, Albany, NY!
The staff at ASAP, Executive Director John Coppola and Director of Events Management, Marketing and Development….the fabulous Sherry LaFountain are working closely with the FOR-NY staff to put together an amazing event for you! Everyone at the FOR-NY office has a role to play and are kicking it into high gear! Stephanie, Deb, Allison, Shana and Theresa are all working to obtain sponsors, put together marketing materials and stay on top of the overall planning.
But did you also know that we convene committees of volunteers to help us plan and execute this event as well? Yes, it’s true we can’t do it all without them!
Our program planning committee is comprised of folks representing all corners of the state. We have a representative from each region: Long Island – Tawana Brown, New York City – Joseph Davis, Mid-Hudson – Meghan Hetfield, Central Regional– Ambi Daniel, Finger Lakes – Yana Khashper, Western Region– Stephen White, The North Country – Jared Croy and representing the Capital Region -Theresa, Sherry and John.
There will be 24 workshops to choose from this year in four “tracks” representing our theme; The Journey to Recovery Wellness: Home, Health, Community and Purpose. We are considering proposals on Employment in Recovery, Safe Sustainable Permanent Recovery Housing, Secondary Addictions, Harm Reductions, Alternative Health Modalities, Purposeful Activities and more!
